I have been due for a top game list at the Ragingeek and what better place to start than with the Amiga computer. From the late 80's to early 90's the Commodore Amiga was one of the premiere gaming machines available. From the powerhouse graphics and sound capabilities to the immense game library it only began to be rivaled in the early 90's by such by 16-bit console systems as the Super NES and Sega Genesis. The list below are just games that I have played when I owned my Amiga 500 computer during the years games were actively being produced for it.
1. Test Drive 2
I remember countless nights playing this game with friends head to head split screen. By far one of the greatest racing games ever made and the ultimate racing simulators of the late 80's. If you were lucky enough to get the car expansion pack then the fun got even better.
2. Eye of the Beholder 2
Probably the best Fantasy RPG games of the time only rivaled by Dungeon Master. I put Eye of the Beholder 2 on top of Dungeon Master because I believe the GUI was just that much more user friendly for gamers.
3. It Came From The Desert
One of Cinemaware's best titles aside from Wings this game combines a great immersive story where strategy combined with time sensitive action play cinematic scenes mean the difference from win or lose. This game provided me with so many nights of fun I will never forget it.
4. The Lost Vikings
A fun platform puzzle game, you use your team of Vikings to navigate through numerous obstacles. The game is challenging and many hours of fun and probably the first puzzle platform game to take the industry by storm.
5. Agony
One of the funnest side scrolling shoot-em ups around by one of my favorite Amiga game developers Psygnosis. The graphics and sound of this game were amazing for the time combined with good game play made this a memorable title.
6. Wings
Another Cinemaware hit this World War I air combat simulator was second to none. The game had various styles of game play along with an addictive rank building system. The game kept you working towards improving your rank for days.
7. Dungeon Master
Arguably one of the best RPG's ever made this title is at the top of almost everyone's all-time greatest lists. The rune spell casting system also introduced a revolutionary approach to game play not yet seen until its release.
8. Leisure Suit Larry - Land of the Lounge Lizards
This adult story based adventure game was the first of its kind. The game had a very low key release to avoid any potential controversy for the adult content. This game definitely earns its place on the Top 10 list as it the story still to today will keep you captivated.
9. Speedball 2
I like to think of this game almost as a combat Lacross. This game is a great 2-player combat sports game which incorporated a large number of never seen before features combined with great graphics and sound was another great title.
10. Another World
When this game first came out I was speechless. From the breath taking introduction to the amazing game play. It added new graphic styles with action platform and puzzle type game play that had you hooked the moment the game starts up.
