Yosemite’s goin’ green!

During a recent trip to Yosemite, I was excited to see and use a few of the toilets geared toward water conservation that until my trip I had only read about. The restrooms at Crane Flat Campground now have dual flush toilets, and the Curry Village dining plaza has waterfree urinals. (more…)

Vista Does Suck

I came across this post “It’s Official: Vista Sucks” and I have to agree. I bought a laptop last December. Leary that it came with Vista installed I figured if it’s too slow I could always wipe the hard drive and install XP. Even still, since it was to be my first hands on experience with Vista, I was anxious to see what it was like. It does look nice, but man is it slow and a bit of a pain to figure out where things are located being so accustomed to XP. (more…)

Green Tip: Remove Bottle Caps When Recycling Plastic Bottles

Although plastic bottle caps are recyclable, they are made of a different type of plastic than their counterpart plastic bottles, thus they require a different recycling process. So recyclers DO NOT even bother to recycle any bottles with caps. So please get in the habit of removing the caps before you drop the bottle in the recycle bin. (more…)

Green Tip: Lawn Maintenance

In the summer, set your sprinkler timer for 2 minute intervals at 12am, 1am, 8am, and 8pm every 2-4 days. This will minimize the chances for run-off and evaporation while still providing a deep soak. In the winter, you can cut out the 8am & 8pm waterings. (more…)

When I first began usign Visual Studio 2008 it was excrutiatingly slow at saving changes, switching between tabbed files, and switching focus from another program to Visual Studio 2008. To make matters worse, any one of these tasks and a few others would cause Visual Studio 2008 to crash. (more…)

Based on research NASA did in the 1980s, a French product designer, Mathieu LeHanneur, and a Harvard University biomedical engineer, David Edwards, have devised an ultra-efficient filtration system that eliminates toxins using plants.
